Crimson Moon Patch Notes — Hotfix 1.0.2, 1.0.1 and Patch 1.0.0.1
Hotfix 1.0.2 is live since October 1 — hundreds of fixes for saves, co-op, combat and performance, with a deeper save rework planned for Patch 1.1.
What did the October 2 one-month update say?
On October 2, 2026 — one month after launch — the team published “One Month in Gildenarch”, a retrospective signed by Dave Lesperance, General Manager, Team Metal. It opens with the admission that “September 1 didn’t go the way we wanted it to”: too many players ran into bugs, crashes and progression issues, and the post thanks everyone who stuck with the game while the team worked to make things right.
It frames the first month as a fix wave: “In our first month, we’ve released 1.0.0.1, Hotfix 1.0.1 and Hotfix 1.0.2, addressing hundreds of issues across saves and progression, crashes and stability, co-op, combat, camera, run-blocking issues and much more.” All three of those updates are covered on this page.
The post also confirms what comes next, in order: “Patch 1.1 is next, with more fixes and quality-of-life improvements informed by the feedback you’ve shared with us.” Beyond it: “Beyond Patch 1.1, there’s more coming to Gildenarch, including new content, and over the coming weeks we’ll begin peeling back the curtain on what we’ve been working on” — accompanied by “a little work-in-progress tease of what’s to come.” Where each roadmap item stands is in the roadmap section below.
What is Hotfix 1.0.2?
Hotfix 1.0.2 is — in the team’s own words — Crimson Moon’s biggest update yet, live on all platforms since October 1, 2026. The announcement describes “hundreds of fixes and improvements across saves and progression, co-op, combat, Boons and Weapon Arts, crashes, performance, camera and much more”, adding that “many of the fixes included below directly address issues raised by the community.”
The full notes are the longest the game has had — 17 sections, from Crashes & Stability and Save Data through to VO, Narrative & Localisation and Additional Fixes. The headline fixes:
| Area | What 1.0.2 changes |
|---|---|
| Co-op | Quickplay works again; the “Game Not Open to Join” join error is fixed; a co-op client no longer inherits the host’s mission progress; the downed-and-revive flow improved; Lore Scrolls can now be collected in co-op |
| Saves & progression | Boon, Loadout Egg and consumable unlock status no longer carry between save files; the Save Overwrite screen now identifies the affected save and defaults to the safer “No”; the Xbox “Save upload failed” warning loop is fixed |
| Combat & bosses | Bosses show a red invulnerability effect during phase transitions; attacking unparryable enemies no longer gets your own attacks parried; Clear the Area enemies spawn and route reliably |
| Boons & Weapon Arts | Angelic Bulwark’s shield functions; Avenging Pestilence no longer double-deals damage; Impaling Throw lands at close range; Ground Slam arts no longer hit twice without Aftershock Technique |
| Quality of life | A new mouse sensitivity slider joins the Settings menu; a new setting enables auto-pickup for Gold; clearer Status Effect text for Tempo, Poisoned, Freeze, Marked and Sundered |
Boss guides covering fights the notes name directly: the Mahkteah boss guide (a fix for the boss sometimes stopping damage — and Burning healing the player instead of hurting) and the Egregore boss guide (lock-on camera fixes).
Is the save-loss bug fixed in 1.0.2?
Improved, not closed. The announcement dedicates its own section to saves: 1.0.2 “includes a number of important save fixes designed to make saves more stable and secure”, but “a few of the remaining save issues are more complex, and for Patch 1.1 we’re planning a more substantial rework of how saves are handled.”
Until that rework lands, the team asks players to meet it halfway: “we recommend playing Crimson Moon on a single device where possible” and “avoiding switching devices when playing the same save” — many remaining issues “occur when moving between devices”. PC players “may also want to create a local backup of your save as an additional precaution.” The full before-and-after lives in the known issues tracker.
What is Hotfix 1.0.1?
Hotfix 1.0.1 is Crimson Moon’s first major post-launch hotfix, with patch notes published on September 11, 2026. In the team’s own words, “Hotfix 1.0.1 is the first of several updates we’re working on and includes fixes and improvements for camera and lock-on behaviour, save and progression issues, crashes, Steam Deck/PC save syncing, co-op, PC keybinding improvements, HUD scaling, and more.”
The fix list spans every launch platform — the notes name fixes across Steam, the Epic Games Store, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam Deck. A September 9 development update had already targeted “release across all platforms this week”, and the hotfix landed two days later.
What does Hotfix 1.0.1 fix?
The official patch notes group the full list into ten sections. Here is each area with its named fixes:
| Area | Named fixes |
|---|---|
| Crashes & stability | “a number of crashes across Steam, Epic Games Store, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam Deck, including a crash that could occur during the Egregore boss fight”; various co-op desync issues |
| Camera | Lock-on camera when fighting large stationary bosses, “including Tyrigon and the Dry Rot King’s God form”; lock-on behaviour around large and elite enemies |
| Multiplayer & co-op | Host option unavailable after reconnecting; players stuck on the title screen after accepting a platform invite; downed players not revived at activated Nexus Gates; co-op run progress now persists for clients |
| Steam Deck | Losing all menu controls; save syncing between Steam Deck and PC on one Steam account |
| Key bindings | Interaction prompts and HUD button icons updating to custom bindings; separate Left/Right Shift icons; a missing Cancel option on remapping screens; UI issues with ESC on custom actions |
| UI & HUD | Status-effect display and placeholder icons; boss health-bar flicker; quest-notification spam; XP decimals on the True Death results screen; Mission Failed difficulty skulls; the duplicate health bar at the start of the Tyrigon fight; new HUD scaling options and better 4K UI scaling |
| Enemies & combat | The Knight Terror’s arm during a finisher; Felwyl’s death sequence being skipped; the Undead Soldier’s heavy-attack sound |
| World & items | Relic collection points not appearing; dropped Relics becoming impossible to pick up; climbing out of the level in Archspire Cathedral; reduced item pickup range |
| Store & entitlements | The Deluxe Edition Upgrade missing from search on Xbox, PS5 and the Epic Games Store; the soundtrack appearing empty on Steam; invisibility after losing equipped Deluxe items |
| Audio & VO | The Undead Soldier’s heavy-attack sound repeating; Solomon Statue and Old Habits dialogue triggering at the wrong times |
Two boss guides cover fights named in the notes: the Egregore boss guide (crash fix) and the Tyrigon boss guide (camera and duplicate health-bar fixes).
Did Hotfix 1.0.1 fix save loss?
Partially — and with new protection. The official notes state that “we’ve added rolling backup saves to provide additional protection if a save becomes corrupted or fails to load, alongside fixes for several instances where player progression could be unintentionally reset.” The team also fixed save syncing between Steam Deck and PC. Hotfix 1.0.2 then took the next pass — its save section sits at the top of this page.
The save-loss issue was the one bug the official known-issues page had labeled high-priority — full before-and-after status lives in the known issues tracker.
What is Patch 1.0.0.1?
Patch 1.0.0.1 is Crimson Moon’s first post-launch update, announced on September 3, 2026. It adds an early — officially “Alpha” — version of the PC keybinding system: keyboard and mouse remapping plus mouse sensitivity controls, released as build version 162350. The update is aimed at PC players; the announcement opens with “Good news, PC Nephilim!”
The patch landed two days after the team publicly committed to shipping keybinding “this week”, responding to PC player feedback at launch.
How do you remap keys in Crimson Moon?
The keybinding feature lives in the settings. The official announcement gives its exact location:
“You can find this new feature under the Settings Menu > Keyboard > select the custom keyboard profile (click the left arrow).”
Inside the custom keyboard profile you can currently rebind every available action, revert bindings to their defaults, and adjust mouse sensitivity — in the team’s own words, “basic keyboard & mouse remapping and mouse sensitivity controls while we continue to refine and expand the feature.”
Hotfix 1.0.1 then cleaned up the feature’s rough edges: interaction prompts and HUD button icons now correctly follow your custom bindings, Left and Right Shift display separate icons, the remapping screens gained their missing Cancel option, and ESC on a custom action no longer breaks the UI.
What is still missing from keybinding?
Three capabilities are not in this version. The announcement lists them explicitly, all planned for a future update:
| Missing feature | What it will do |
|---|---|
| Multiple bindings | Assign more than one key to the same action |
| Double-tap inputs | Assign actions to quickly pressing a key twice |
| Hold inputs | Assign actions to holding a key down |
Hotfix 1.0.1 fixed bugs around the existing system but did not add these three capabilities. For controllers, the September 9 roadmap originally listed “controller button customisation” among the planned Hotfix 1.0.2 fixes — on September 17 the team moved it to Patch 1.1 (see below).
Why was keybinding missing at launch?
Keybinding was planned for PC before launch, but the team held it back. The announcement explains: “we chose to hold the initial implementation at launch while we resolved some remaining issues” — and that player feedback after launch “reinforced that getting these options into your hands should be a priority.”
The timeline played out across three official posts: a September 1 commitment to deliver keybinding “this week” with the caveat that the first version “may have some bugs”, a September 2 resources post, and the September 3 release of this Alpha implementation.
Does Patch 1.0.0.1 apply to PS5 and Xbox?
The Patch 1.0.0.1 announcement is addressed to PC players, and the keybinding feature it describes is PC-side. Hotfix 1.0.1, by contrast, spans all platforms — its crash, co-op and UI fixes explicitly cover PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam Deck. For platform details, see the platforms guide, the PS5 guide and the Xbox guide.
What did the September 17 update say about Hotfix 1.0.2?
On September 17, 2026, the team published “Hotfix 1.0.2: More Fixes Coming Next Week” — confirming the update is close but not yet dated: “Assuming everything goes to plan with testing, we’re aiming to have the update in your hands next week. We’ll share an official date once testing is complete and we have confirmation from our platform partners on when the update can ship.”
The announcement also sets expectations for the notes themselves: “we’ve addressed even more bugs than we did with 1.0.1” — and, as with 1.0.1, the full list arrives only when the update does: “we’ll share the complete patch notes once the update is live.”
For now, the announcement names five key areas it is targeting:
| Area | What the announcement says |
|---|---|
| Save & progression fixes | “with further work to protect player progress and address issues that can cause progress to be lost or reset” |
| Co-op fixes | “including issues affecting progress, gear, connections and interrupted sessions” |
| Combat, Boon & boss fixes | “addressing issues with Boons, Weapon Arts, enemies and boss encounters” |
| Run-blocking fixes | “addressing objectives and other issues that can prevent players from progressing through a run” |
| Crash, performance & camera fixes | “across PC and consoles” |
One roadmap item moved out of the hotfix: controller button customisation, which the September 9 roadmap had listed under Hotfix 1.0.2, now sits with Patch 1.1. The announcement is direct about it — “Our previous roadmap listed controller button remapping for Hotfix 1.0.2, and we want to be transparent that this has now moved to Patch 1.1” — and explains that implementing it “has presented some additional challenges” the team wants to resolve first: “We’d rather take a little more time and make sure it works properly than release it before it’s ready.”
Why was Hotfix 1.0.2 delayed?
On September 25, 2026, the team published “Hotfix 1.0.2 Delay Messaging”: the update is moving to next week instead of shipping in the week the September 17 post pointed at. The stated reason is scope, not trouble: the team identified several additional critical fixes it wants included, and decided to “move Hotfix 1.0.2 into next week and deliver these together as one more complete update” rather than release now with multiple follow-ups.
The announcement also puts a number on the update: “1.0.2 is a substantial update, with over 200 fixes currently going into the update.”
Save and progression loss leads the announcement’s key areas. The team writes that it is treating “save and progression loss as our highest priority”, with “significant progress in identifying what we believe to be the root cause of these issues”. The key areas named:
| Key area | What the announcement says |
|---|---|
| Save and progression loss | the declared highest priority; “significant progress” toward a believed root cause |
| Run-blocking issues | named among the key fixes |
| Co-op issues | “including those Lore Scrolls that can’t be collected in co-op” |
| Crashes | named among the key fixes |
| Boons and Weapon Arts | “not functioning as intended” |
One ask and one promise: keep reporting problems — “continue reporting any issues you encounter after the update” — and “We’ll have more to share on Hotfix 1.0.2 next week.” How the new key areas line up with the September 17 list is in the roadmap section below.
What comes after Hotfix 1.0.2?
A September 9 development update laid out the roadmap — here is where each item stands after the October 1 release:
- Hotfix 1.0.2 — shipped October 1, 2026. Originally “currently planned for later this month” (September 9), then “next week” (September 17), delayed again on September 25 into the following week — and released at the start of October. The shipped notes kept the promised key areas: save and progression fixes, run-blocking fixes (Clear the Area), co-op fixes including Lore Scroll collection, crashes, and Boons and Weapon Arts. Full coverage sits at the top of this page.
- Patch 1.1 — “planned for October.” The 1.0.2 announcement expands the scope: alongside “a more substantial rework of how saves are handled”, 1.1 targets “gear and Blacksmith improvements, clearer gear and Boon information, better visibility of run progression, rewards and unlocks, further control remapping improvements, and additional co-op improvements.” Controller button customisation has sat here since September 17, when the team moved it out of 1.0.2. The October 2 one-month update reconfirms the order — “Patch 1.1 is next.”
- New content is coming. The 1.0.2 announcement looks past the fix wave: “As we move into October, we’ll begin sharing more about new content coming to the game and what’s next for Gildenarch” — with the tease that “you won’t have to wait too much longer to find out more.” The October 2 update repeats the promise and narrows the window: “over the coming weeks we’ll begin peeling back the curtain on what we’ve been working on.” This extends the September posts’ earlier teases of a free content update.
The 1.1 date is a plan, not a shipped update; this page tracks it as it lands.
