Who is the Flesh-Wrought Egregore?

The Flesh-Wrought Egregore is one of the six Vessels — the district-boss tier beneath the Dead Gods — and the first boss of Mission III. The community wiki’s lore explains what it is: “As Hellgrowth matures and terraforms the land, the souls trapped within its networks are rewritten to serve its expansion.” Their lingering thought-echoes end up “warped by fear, confusion and hate and wrought into a violent and destructive monstrosity” — a boss that is, literally, the city’s parasitic growth given a shape (see the full roster for where it sits).

When do you fight the Egregore?

Game8’s boss list places it at Mission III: Elk Grove Academy — the mission’s first Ward, with Felwyl the Withered’s Moore Manor as the second. Platform trophy lists independently confirm the Academy as a unit of progression: both consoles ship a named “Elk Grove Academy” award for completing it (Bronze on PlayStation, 25 Gamerscore on Xbox).

What is the fight like?

No verified written breakdown of its attack patterns, phases or drops exists yet — and this wiki does not publish invented movesets. What does exist is dedicated fight footage from launch week, linked below: watching the encounter played is currently the fastest way to learn its shape before your own hunt reaches Mission III.

Where can you watch the Egregore fight?

Boss Hunter’s dedicated boss-fight video covers this exact encounter — the one source of fight visuals verified for this page:

How does the Egregore connect to Felwyl and the Hellgrowth?

The Hellgrowth that produces the Egregore is the same force at the center of Mission III’s other Ward. Community lore describes Felwyl the Withered as “an occultist and lich who mastered the otherworldly nature of the Hellgrowth” in pursuit of immortality, whose “ambitions extend beyond eternal existence and towards godhood”. But note the boundary: the Warden is documented as Felwyl’s direct experiment, while the Egregore is presented as the Hellgrowth’s own work on trapped souls — no verified source says Felwyl created it.

How should you prepare for the Egregore?

Mission III sits deep in the campaign, and the official loot rule holds: deeper districts, greater risks and rewards. Arrive with your best purified loadout pre-equipped, tune the dynamic difficulty to a setting that lets you learn the fight, and lean on the extra-lives system preview coverage describes for failed attempts. In co-op, remember the shared failure budget — one greedy revive attempt can cost the run for both hunters.

What does the Egregore drop?

The community wiki catalogues one weapon from this fight: Akyreon’s Tongue, a polearm described there as a glaive grown from Hellgrowth, whose Weapon Art is Egregore Explosion — the boss’s own name on its drop, continuing the catalogue’s theme pattern. That single-source entry is the complete known drop list so far; every boss-sourced weapon is mapped in the weapons list, and how drops persist via Purification is covered in the loot guide.

What comes after Elk Grove Academy?

Mission III’s second Ward, Moore Manor, belongs to Felwyl the Withered. Beyond the mission wait the two Mission IV World Bosses — per Game8’s list, one chosen per run, with the Final Boss unlocked only after both fall. The full ladder is tracked in the bosses overview, and every hunt still plans out from Sanctus Clypeus.
