Crimson Moon Armory Guide — Purified Gear and Your Collection
Purifying gear adds it to your permanent armory at Sanctus Clypeus. Here is what survives a hunt's end, and what doesn't.
What is the armory?
The armory is the permanent library of every piece of gear you’ve purified. The official support docs frame it around the question every new player asks after their first run: “I found an amazing weapon, do I just lose it?” — “Not if you purify it.” Purified gear is permanently added to your collection and becomes available at the Loadout Station, ready to equip before any future hunt.
What is permanent, and what is run-only?
Crimson Moon draws a hard line between two kinds of power:
| Permanent | Run-only |
|---|---|
| Purified gear, upgrades, unlocked equipment | Boons and buffs found mid-hunt |
| Accessible across every future run | Gone when the run ends |
The armory is the permanent side of that equation. This matches the death rules — purified collection gear can never be lost, while run-only pickups are at risk. Full loss table: death guide.
How does gear get into the armory?
Three steps, all confirmed in the official docs:
- Find it — weapons, armor, trinkets, consumables and upgrades drop from exploration, elite enemies, bosses and mission rewards.
- Purify it — back at Sanctus Clypeus, purification cleanses gear recovered from the corrupted city and permanently adds it to your collection.
- Equip it — purified gear appears at the Loadout Station at the portal, where you build your loadout for the next deployment.
Does difficulty affect gear drops?
Yes. The official docs state that higher difficulty levels offer more opportunities for higher-rarity gear, and recommend targeting elites, bosses and mission rewards to build the collection faster. Difficulty is chosen per mission at the War Table — see how runs work for the scaling picture.
Is the armory a ranking?
Each hunt widens the pool of gear you can start future hunts with, so the armory becomes a toolkit rather than a single best build — different weapons for different Wards, different armor for different modifiers. That is also why ward preparation and boss guides pay off: the right option for the right fight.
Where do upgrades fit?
Purified gear is permanently yours; the Blacksmith makes it permanently stronger — upgrades persist across every future run just like the collection itself. For the slot layout your collection feeds, see the builds guide.
