Crimson Moon Blacksmith Guide — Upgrades, Souls and Gajov Resnyk
The Blacksmith at Sanctus Clypeus forges and upgrades gear using souls from your hunts. Here is what the official support docs confirm.
What is the Blacksmith?
The Blacksmith is the Sanctus Clypeus station where you craft and upgrade your gear. The official support docs describe the division of labor in one line: “Where your armory gives you options, the Blacksmith makes those options stronger.” It has exactly two confirmed functions:
| Function | What it does |
|---|---|
| Forge | Create new weapons and armor |
| Upgrade | Make existing weapons and armor stronger |
Who runs the Blacksmith?
Gajov Resnyk, the hub’s blacksmith. He is one of the few NPCs verified by the game’s own achievement lists — “Gajov Make Strong” asks you to upgrade any weapon or shield to rare or higher quality at his station. Around 16% of players had earned it as of early September 2026, so it is a mid-game milestone, not an endgame grind. See the achievements list for the full table.
What currency do upgrades use?
Souls drop from the enemies you kill during a run. You also forfeit a portion of them when you die, so the Blacksmith is one more reason runs stay low-stakes but never worthless — details in the death guide.
Is Blacksmith progression permanent?
Yes — and this is the part that matters for a run-based game. The official docs are explicit: “Upgrades are permanent progression. They stay with you across every future run, alongside purified gear and unlocked equipment. Nothing you invest at the Blacksmith is lost when a hunt ends.”
That places the Blacksmith at the end of the permanent-power chain:
- Find gear during a hunt in Gildenarch
- Purify it back at the hub — permanently yours (armory guide)
- Upgrade it at the Blacksmith — permanently stronger
How does the Blacksmith fit the hub?
The official hub overview lists five stations, and the Blacksmith is the gear half of the loop: “Your armory supplies the gear; the Blacksmith makes it stronger; the Archivist and Merchant supply the run-only power on top.” The full station map — including the War Table where missions are chosen — is in the Sanctus Clypeus guide.
For what to feed the forge first, the loot guide covers what drops and where, and the builds guide explains how upgraded gear slots into the nine-slot loadout.
