What is a Nephilim?

A Nephilim is a half-human, half-angel hybrid, forged — in the developers’ own words — “to defend humanity from Hell”. As a Nephilim you wield supernatural powers, weapons and melee combat abilities beyond what any human soldier could, including angelic transformations that define the upper end of your power.

Who do the Nephilim serve?

The Nephilim belong to the Order of the Crimson Moon — humanity’s last hope in the official framing. Their knights operate from Sanctus Clypeus, the ancient stronghold known as the Divine Shield, once called Crimson Hall, where the Knights and the Lunitarian Church work side by side in an uneasy alliance.

What happened to Gildenarch?

Gildenarch was once a holy jewel of a city — and it has fallen. The city is now overrun by four enemy families: demons, undead, vampires and Hellgrowth abominations. Reclaiming it district by district — Ward by Ward — is the campaign you play, with each hunt pushing deeper into the fallen city.

Who are the Dead Gods?

The Dead Gods are the fabled entities ruling over Gildenarch’s ruin — the brutal boss encounters that cap each Ward. Officially, runs through the city “culminate in brutal boss encounters with the fabled Dead Gods”. Track every confirmed one on the bosses overview.

What is the prophecy?

The official tagline frames your role in it directly: “Rise, violent one. The prophecy is yours to fulfill.” Whether you crusade alone or slay together in two-player co-op, you are the Order’s most feared weapon — the Nephilim the prophecy points to.

Where should lore-curious players start?

Play the mission loop first — the lore of the Order, the Church and the city unfolds hunt by hunt. Then revisit Sanctus Clypeus between runs: the hub’s official backstory is the densest lore in the game.
