How Loot Works in Crimson Moon — Rarity, Purifying and the Loadout Station
Crimson Moon loot covers weapons, armor, trinkets, consumables and upgrades found across Gildenarch. Purify what you find to build a permanent collection.
What can you find in Crimson Moon?
The official loot explainer lists the drop pool: weapons, armour, trinkets, consumables and powerful upgrades — a huge variety that can “dramatically change the way you approach combat”. That last phrase matters: loot in Crimson Moon is not just stat sticks, it reshapes playstyle via the Boons carried by higher-rarity gear.
How do you earn loot?
Three official channels, plus depth as a multiplier:
- Explore — “search every corner of Gildenarch”; secrets are real loot sources in each Ward
- Fight — defeat powerful elite enemies and towering bosses
- Complete missions — the replayable objectives inside each Ward
The deeper you venture into the city, the greater the risks — but also the greater the rewards. Pushing depth is the intended way to escalate gear quality.
What is Purifying?
Purifying is the bridge between a single run and permanent power. Per the official explainer: gear discovered during a hunt can be purified, which permanently adds it to your collection. Once purified, that equipment is available at the Loadout Station — equippable before future hunts, no re-farming required. Every successful run expands your arsenal.
Wait — can you lose loot during a run?
How does loot relate to builds?
Loot is the input, builds are the output. Higher rarity gear improves core stats and introduces Boons; armor sets from the same system provide the specialization layer; and the nine gear slots are where it all equips. The intended loop: hunt deep, purify the best drops, re-plan at the Loadout Station, hunt deeper.
What should beginners loot first?
Prioritize gear that fixes your weakest survival layer — a defensive armor piece or healing-related Boon before damage, as the beginner guide recommends. Rarity temptation can wait: a coherent build beats a pile of orange drops you cannot yet survive to use.
