What is a Ward?

A Ward is one of the districts of Gildenarch, the fallen holy city — and the unit every hunt is built around. From Sanctus Clypeus you pick a Ward at the War Table, then venture in for a run. The official runs explainer calls Gildenarch a world that “remembers, reshapes, and pushes back” — Wards are where that happens.

What is inside a Ward?

Per the official structure, every Ward is made up of multiple replayable missions featuring:

  • regular enemies from the four announced families (see the lore)
  • elite encounters — the loot-rich fights the loot guide tells you to target
  • mini-bosses below the Ward’s final boss
  • secrets worth searching every corner for
  • valuable loot, scaling with depth

…capped by a powerful boss waiting at the end — a Vessel in the early missions, with the Dead Gods as the tier beyond (bosses overview).

How do Wards scale?

Officially: the deeper you venture into the city, the greater the risks — but also the greater the rewards. Depth, not a difficulty menu alone, is the escalation lever inside the city; dynamic difficulty scaling then tunes each mission to your skill with higher settings paying more.

How many Wards are there?

How do Wards relate to missions and runs?

One run = one hunt through a chosen Ward’s missions. Replayability is per-mission: you can re-run the same Ward for its loot table and secrets, or push deeper when your build is ready. The War Table in Sanctus Clypeus is where the choice gets made each time.
