Who is E’frae, the Dry Rot King?

E’frae is one of the Dead Gods — the tier above the six Vessels, the ancient beings whose remnant souls are bound to the Abraxas Stones. The community wiki’s enemies page carries the fall from grace in full: “In an age long forgotten, E’frae was known as the Lord of the Wild and worshipped by the Saedrics of southern Velchoria. This magnificent stag of bark and amber blood has been warped by eras on the verge of death, trapped within an Abraxas Stone.”

A corrupted wild god — rot where there was growth — sitting opposite Mahkteah’s god of creative destruction. The full tier structure is on the bosses overview.

When and where do you fight E’frae?

Per Game8’s boss list, the fight is at Mission IV: World Boss — Defiled Cemetery, the cemetery being the mirror of Mahkteah’s Ancient Chamber: Mission IV offers one World Boss per run, and the Final Boss row unlocks only after both gods have fallen on separate hunts.

E’frae also has something no other Dead God has: an official patch note naming the fight. Hotfix 1.0.1’s camera section improved the lock-on camera for large stationary bosses “including Tyrigon and the Dry Rot King’s God form” — official confirmation that the fight escalates into a second, god-scale phase (see the patch notes).

What is the fight like?

No verified numeric stats have been published for E’frae by any source this wiki trusts — so, as with Mahkteah, this page carries no stat card. What is verified:

  • Official acknowledgment — the 1.0.1 patch note above, including the God form’s existence.
  • Fight footage — the full-run video below, title-verified, shows the Dry Rot King as an immense bark-skinned stag whose antlered silhouette fills a fog-choked graveyard, with the run ending in the player’s first Abraxas Stone.
  • Early strategy notes — VooksGuides’ walkthrough recommends frost or poison damage over raw physical for this fight and favours mid-range play (single-source tips, attributed).

What does E’frae drop?

Per the community wiki’s gear catalogues:

DropTypeDetail
Rotkin’s ThornOne-handed swordSword of Rot Weapon Art
Pagan armor setArmor setThemed for the corrupted wild god

Both entries are single-source catalogue data, matching the drop rows on the roster page. The weapons list maps Rotkin’s Thorn among every boss-sourced weapon, the armor sets guide tracks the Pagan set, and Purification — how a run’s drops become permanent collection pieces — is covered in the loot guide.

E’frae or Mahkteah — which World Boss do you fight?

One per run, per Game8’s structure, with the endgame gated behind both. The practical chooser is the drop table: E’frae’s Rotkin’s Thorn (Sword of Rot) suits a status-damage build — pairing naturally with the poison side of the Boon pool — while Mahkteah’s Burning Heart serves a sword-and-aura setup. Let the weapons list pick your world boss; the other god waits for the next hunt.

How should you prepare?

Same endgame discipline as the Ancient Chamber: a purified, deliberate loadout across your nine gear slots, VooksGuides’ recommended frost or poison damage over raw physical, and mid-range spacing to survive the God form’s scale. The dynamic-difficulty setting lets you scout before committing, the extra-lives system softens a failed attempt, and in co-op the shared failure budget punishes greedy revives.

What comes after both World Bosses? (endgame spoiler)

Game8’s list closes with a single Final Boss row — “Felwyl, The Ascended” at a place it labels “Aegoroth” — treated with caution on the roster page because it cuts across the known tiers. The Ascended form’s existence has independent video corroboration, but its placement remains single-source; the endgame’s actual shape awaits fuller documentation.

FAQ

Which mission is E'frae in?
Game8's boss list places E'frae, the Dry Rot King, at Mission IV as a World Boss fought in the Defiled Cemetery. The mission's other World Boss is Mahkteah in the Ancient Chamber — one is chosen per run, and the Final Boss unlocks only after both have been defeated.
Is the Dry Rot King a Dead God?
Yes. E'frae is one of the three Dead Gods documented above the Vessel tier. The Hotfix 1.0.1 patch notes even name the fight directly, improving the lock-on camera 'including Tyrigon and the Dry Rot King's God form' — official acknowledgment of the encounter.
What does E'frae drop?
Per the community wiki's catalogues, E'frae sources the Rotkin's Thorn one-handed sword (Sword of Rot art) and the Pagan armor set. Both are single-source catalogue data, mapped with every other boss weapon in the weapons list.
