Crimson Moon Best Weapons — Early Favorites and Weapon Arts
No settled tier list exists yet, but early guides already favour five weapons: the frost-building Revenant Blade, boss-hunting Recantation, and two strong polearms.
What are the best weapons in Crimson Moon?
There is no settled tier list yet — the game launched September 1, 2026, and no source has published verified damage testing. What exists is a set of early favourites: Game8’s guide recommends the Covenant Sword as a great early find, the Revenant Blade for frost builds, Recantation for boss fights, and the Reaper Poleaxe and Crescent Moon Halberd as the best early two-handed picks. Sportskeeda independently builds around the Revenant Blade too. The full known roster — 33 weapons and 16 shields — is catalogued in the weapons list, and how arts and Boons define a build is covered in the builds guide.
Why is the Revenant Blade the early standout?
Because two independent sources build around it. The Revenant Blade is a one-handed sword whose Weapon Art, Winter Sun, encases nearby foes in frost — Game8 describes the art as “Encase nearby foes with Frost.” and rates the blade (listed there as “Revenant Sword”) as the one-handed pick for a frost build. Sportskeeda’s easy-clear setup starts from the same blade: “Encase is an incredibly powerful debuff”, paired with the Ring of Frozen Vow and the Amulet of Reaper’s Respite, plus frost Boons such as Frozen Vow (“Light Attack hits apply 200 Frost”) and Frostbound Charge (“Sprint Attack hits apply 1000 Frost”) — or Sword of the Lunar Sentinel, which shares the same art, as the alternative.
What makes the Covenant Sword a great early find?
Ranged damage that keeps you out of melee. Game8 lists the Covenant Sword with a base attack of 33 and the Impaling Throw art — “Hurl your weapon at an enemy, then attack again to recall it on command.” Their reasoning: throwing the weapon deals damage at range, preserves health and flasks, and asks little of an early-game build. Like every base-attack number currently published, the 33 figure is single-source (Game8) — treat it as indicative, not gospel, while in-game testing catches up.
Why do guides rate Recantation for boss fights?
Bleed plus flask sustain — a combination made for long health bars. Recantation is a one-handed sword with the Gouging Throw art, which Game8 describes as “Hurl your Weapon and apply Bleed, then attack again to recall it on command.” They pair it with the Chalice of Conquest Boon: “When you have 0 Health Flasks, you will restore a Health Flask after hitting enemies 8 times.” That boon text is verified across two sources (Game8 and Sportskeeda list it word for word), which makes this the best-corroborated weapon pairing so far. For which bosses actually drop named weapons, see the drop table in the weapons list.
What are the best two-handed weapons?
Game8 names two polearms — the class that fills your two-handed slot. The Reaper Poleaxe carries a base attack of 55 and the Homing Projectiles art (“Cast homing orbs towards your foes. Deals Fire Damage.”), which Game8 calls the best early two-handed weapon thanks to ranged damage at low mana cost; they pair it with the Judgement of Winter Boon (“When you hit an enemy with a Heavy Attack, they suffer 350 Frost”). The Crescent Moon Halberd, also 55 base attack, brings Winter Solstice (“Summon a wedge of ice from the ground and deal Frost.”) — high damage that freezes enemies into a damage window, strong against groups. Both evaluations are single-source (Game8) so far.
Which weapons come from bosses?
Ten of the 33 known weapons have a catalogue-listed unlock source — nine boss drops (including Felwyl’s second form and both named Dead Gods) plus the Deluxe Edition’s Axe of the Gods. The community wiki’s catalogue maps each drop to its boss; the full mapping with links to every fight guide lives in the weapons list. Boss drops keep their theme: the Warden’s Blasphemous Accord throws poison caltrops, and Valahk-Nor’s Gildenarch’s Glory slams with the general’s own art.
How much do weapon stats matter?
Less than the art, officially. The developers’ builds explainer says Weapon Arts “give weapons their own identity beyond their standard attacks” — a cooldown ability separate from raw stats, so two weapons with similar damage can play completely differently. That is why this page ranks by playstyle rather than numbers: verified stat tables do not exist yet, and the base-attack figures that do exist come from a single in-progress guide. When official numbers arrive, this page updates; until then, pick by art and synergy as the builds guide recommends.
